The guys in Vietnam Idea

I'd love to see a really indepth and emotionally strong piece about the guys in Vietnam. Obviously, Vin and Chris or even Vin and Buck, hmmm, Vin and Josiah(?) would have to be captured at some point in time. To get the "feel" of going directly from high school into the army, I think I'd make J.D. 19, have Vin 22 or 23 and having served since he was 18 or so, Ezra 26 or 27, and take it from there. I'd expect Nathan to be a medic, and at the very minimum Buck, Chris and Josiah would be officers of differing ranks. Hmmm, guess that would make Travis one of the big guys in the war department. Don't know if I could handle something as down and dirty as having them "guests" of the Hanoi Hilton, but something to a lesser, but still intense, degree.

I can see Ezra as an officer (first lieutenant?), and Josiah as a non-com, probably first sergeant. That way, he could still be "spiritual guru" to the men without that pesky rank thing getting in the way. It would also explain why Chris, who is considerably younger than Josiah, outranks him (assuming, of course, you'd have Chris outranking him).
